Quarry becomes a football stadium in Ypsonas

The approval of the environmental authority was secured by a project within the municipal boundaries of Ypsonas in Limassol. The project concerns the construction of a Category C football stadium with stands.

The stadium will have 750 spectators with concrete stands on the north side and lawn. It has an area of 35475 sq.m. and will take place on the site of an old quarry.

Nearby and south of the stadium is the Gymnasium and Lyceum of Ypsonas. The plot is located mostly in residential areas and partly in an agricultural area to the left of Tassou Isaak Street on a slope. The piece is state-owned.

The stadium is 20 meters lower than the northern road. A footbridge will connect the stands with the road further north, while the existence of the bypass road that leads to the Kourris Dam and the parallel with it to the eastern boundaries of the project that crosses the road to its southeastern point has been taken into account.

For its construction, the subsoil will be reinforced with cement injections and friction piles due to the type of aggregates in the piece.

Its management and maintenance will be undertaken by the Municipality of Ypsonas, based on the lease of land by the government. The slope will be properly shaped with climbing plants and shrubs. Automatic watering will be installed for the water supply needs of the stadium.
