The developments in the Middle East are fast-paced, intensifying fears of a generalized conflict in the region. Iran issued a NOTAM (notice of flight operations) for the center, west and northwest of the country, advising aircraft to change their routes, according to the Jerusalem Post.
It is noted that The US, through its Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, estimates that an Iranian attack on Israel could begin within the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to the website Axios, Blinken told his G7 counterparts that the US does not know the exact time of the planned Iranian attack, but believes it could start as early as today, Monday 05/08.
< p>Already, according to the Pentagon, Washington is sending more warships and military aircraft to the region to protect US troops deployed there, to bolster Israel's defense capabilities, and to prevent escalation in the Middle East.< /p>
As the US believes an Iranian attack is inevitable after the assassination of top Hezbollah and Hamas officials last week, Blinken told his counterparts that the best way to avoid regional war is to pressure the Tehran to curb its aggression.
According to the report, Blinken spoke with his counterparts amid US efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and prevent the outbreak of an all-out war.
