Αντιδρασεισ&sigma ;τακτεγιαχρηση ;νινισειεεσ p> The reaction of Salamis Port Shipping Ltd and the response of the so-called transport minister </p> <p>The transfer of the occupied ports to foreign companies will have irreparable negative consequences in many sectors for society, said Salamis Port Shipping Ltd, which consists of about 40 companies from all sectors dealing with ports.</p> <p>According to the GTP, the local press refers to the company's announcement yesterday where it reiterates the position that the tender that will be announced in relation to the management activities in the occupied ports of Famagusta and Kyrenia must be open to local companies.</p > <p>The statement expresses the company's full belief that its shareholders will be able to move the ports into the future and establish a modern understanding of port management thanks to the accumulated knowledge they have over 50 years and their technical capabilities. </p> <p>Stating that if foreign companies participate in the “international competition” it will become difficult to control any crimes that may occur at the ports, the company says that the technical investments made by local private companies over the years will be wasted if foreigners win the tender and there is a risk that the Turkish Cypriot “people” will lose millions of dollars.</p> <p>It is added that during their meeting, the “Minister of Transport”, Erhan Arikli told them that if all the local companies will be granted the management of occupied ports without tender.</p> <p>In the meantime, online Cypriot Postasi writes that Mr. Arikli responded to Salamis Port Shipping Ltd with a post on the NQD saying that what is being done is not a “tender for the privatization of the ports” but “a small tender that will ensure that they are given for a certain period period the port services”.</p> <p>Companies from Turkey, which they call foreign companies, “I don't know if they would be interested in a management tender of a few million dollars,” Mr. Arikli added. But, he continued, “greed has magnified the friends' eye so much that they do not hesitate to market as 'foreign companies' the companies that could come from Turkey. And the saddest thing is, they claim that if these companies take the ports, there will be irreparable negative consequences”. Erhan Arikli, stated that the issue of ports is a red line for them and if the issue is not resolved, the party may even leave the “coalition government”.</p> <p>In a written statement, he stated that ” the deplorable condition of the two sea gates is known to everyone” and in the ports of Kyrenia and Famagusta, there are conditions that do not exist “even in backward African countries”.</p> <p>“If we cannot solve this issue when we are in the government, especially when we have the Ministry of Transport, it does not make sense for the KA to be in the government,” he said.</p> <p><noindex></p> <div class=Source: politis.com.cy
