Reduction by 6.3% in working hours in the 4th quarter of 2020

Total employment decreased by 1.3% or 6,035 people in the 4th quarter of 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2019, while the actual working hours decreased by 6.3%.

Specifically, according to a preliminary estimate of the Statistical Service, the total number of employees employed in the 4th quarter of 2020 is estimated at 442,271 people, of which 392,697 are employees and 49,574 are self-employed.

The total number of employees in the 4th quarter of 2019 had reached 448,236 people, of which 397,786 were employees and 50,450 self-employed.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2019, total employment for the 4th quarter of 2020 decreased by 1.3%.

The most significant percentage reductions were observed in the areas of Accommodation and Catering Services (NACE I), Transport and Storage (NACE H), Administrative and Support Activities (NACE N), Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (NACE R) and Other Services (NACE S).

Moreover, according to the estimates of the Statistical Service, the real working hours for the 4th quarter of 2020 are estimated at 190,615 thousand, with a decrease of 6.3% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2019.

It is noted that the actual working hours for the 4th quarter of 2019 are estimated at 203,481 thousand.

The most significant percentage reductions were observed in the 4th quarter of 2020 in the sectors of Accommodation and Catering Services (NACE I), Transport and Storage (NACE H), Administrative and Support Activities (NACE N), Arts, Recreation and Recreation (NACE H) and Other Activities.
