The Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus, as part of the events for the International Day and European Night of Museums 2023, is organizing on Friday 19 May at 20:30, the immersive show “ReInHerit strong> a Museum” – Inherit the Museum again and invites the public to embrace the Cultural Foundation as a place of preservation as well as creation of culture.
With the use of interactive modern technologies as well as live music, the visitor is “immersed” in the world of performance and explores it with the body, re-experiencing the museum as a living, creative and at the same time intimate space. The show combines large-scale interactive sound installation with elements of augmented reality, a large group of musicians who will move through the space, real-time graphic creation and video projection mapping, as it encapsulates and highlights the Foundation's current temporary and permanent exhibitions.
The show “ReInHerit a Museum” is one of the events organized within the ReInHerit research program “Redefining the Future of Culture Heritage: Creating an Innovative Model for Sustainability” (http://www.reinherit.eu), coordinated by the Cultural Foundation. It is organized by the CYENS Center of Excellence, partner of the ReInHerit program, in collaboration with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra. The performance is presented as part of the events of the European Night of Museums 2023.
The performance is characterized by an innovative approach to curating the experience of visitors to archaeological sites, for which an immersive experience is created within a museum.< /p>
During the event, visitors freely explore the building and museums of the Cultural Foundation, forming their own personal impression of the space and its exhibits. With their movement, audience and musicians alike trigger sound events wherever and whenever they enter to explore, depending on the placement of the sound installation's receivers.
Their interaction with the performance environment is done through a mobile application, made especially for this event. This application provides the opportunity to view objects from the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation's Ethnographic Collection, which are not currently on display in areas with public access, as 3D augmented reality projections within the museum premises.
ReInHerit funding was secured within the Horizon 2020 CSA Program with the theme Culture beyond borders – Facilitating innovation and research cooperation between European museums and heritage. The program proposes an innovative model of sustainable cultural heritage management by restructuring the existing regime of communication, cooperation and innovation between museums and cultural heritage sites.
