The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis has been informed about the events and developments in relation to the serious incidents that took place in recent weeks in the field of Cypriot football, according to a written statement by the Government Spokesman. Marios Pelekanos notes that the President requested that a detailed report of events be prepared immediately, in which any gaps identified in the procedures for the prevention and immediate suppression of such phenomena should be recorded.
It is added that, in view of the peak of football interest in the coming weeks , the President of the Republic has given instructions to the Police, which, according to Mr. Pelekanos, must strengthen its presence and the measures implemented by demonstrating the required rigor, in order to avoid any deviations in the remaining matches of the championship .
The Government clarifies that any acts of violence or delinquent behavior will be met with opposition and warns that it will be relentless in order to prevent the occurrence of such phenomena.
