The 14th of February, the feast of lovers as it has been established, is for many an occasion either to make a date for food or drink, or to buy a symbolic gift. Therefore, the day has intense commercialism and the market takes even for a 24-hour period. Indicative of the day's commercialism is the move by banks to reward shopping at restaurants for Valentine's Day, as well as the related advertising from a number of stores.

Restaurants full

Both the day and evening of February 14th moved very satisfactorily for the recreation centers much better than in previous years. As reported by the head of the Pan-Cypriot Association of Leisure Centers PASSIKA, especially the restaurants were mostly full. “We are returning to pre-pandemic levels,” he said. He also pointed out that for that particular day, there is a special decoration and often special menus, while most tables are for 2 people – which reduces the possibility of hospitality and capacity. In any case, however, satisfaction is recorded.

The florists pay their respects

A record of sales and traffic was recorded yesterday in the florists, more than even in 2019, as described by Natasa Georgiou, manager of the Arokaria flower shop. The vast majority of customers on February 14th are men and most of the purchases were for bouquets of red roses, which have their honor on that particular day.

No hotel reservations

Valentine's Day did not have much mobility in the hotels, nor did it increase occupancy mainly because the celebration fell on a Tuesday this year. The general manager of PASYXE Filokypros Rousounidis explained that the traffic is anyway increased in the mountain resorts, due to the weather conditions and is currently around 70-80% for the weekends, however it does not seem to have changed due to the specific holiday.
