The Retail Trade Cycle Value Index increased in May 2022 by 23.9% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, reaching 141.5 points (2015=100), according to data from the Statistical Service published on Friday. During the same month, the Retail Trade Cycle Volume Index increased by 12.2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 131.3 units.

According to the data, for the period January-May 2022, the value index is estimated to have increased by 12.9% and the volume index by 3.4% compared to the same period in 2021.
Details , in terms of value, the largest increase in May this year was in the retail trade of vehicle fuel in specialized stores, with 55.1%. It is followed by the retail trade of Electronic computers and telecommunications equipment, curtains, carpets, books, stationery, sports equipment, games, plants, watches, jewelry, etc., with 36.3% and the trade of textiles, clothing, footwear, with 24.3%.
In terms of transaction volume, the largest increase in May this year was recorded in the retail trade of computers and telecommunications equipment, curtains, carpets, books, stationery, sports equipment, games, plants, watches, jewelry, etc., with 23.4%, followed by the trade of textiles, clothing, footwear, with 20.2% and non-food products (excluding vehicle fuel), with 14.5%. The volume of retail fuel trade increased by 11.4%.
