Highways in all cities have been turned into a construction site. In a statement, the Police announces the points and the hours when works are being carried out, which is why the drivers are urged to be especially careful.
On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, from Wednesday, April 14, 2021, improvement works will be carried out at the Kornos junction. The works will last 15 months and concern on the one hand the improvement of the existing branches of the junction on the west side of the highway, for entering the highway from Korno / Pyrga to Nicosia and for exit from Limassol to Korno / Pyrga, and on the other hand the creation east side, from Korno / Pyrga to Limassol.
On the Limassol-Paphos highway, from Monday 12/7/2021 to Friday 30/7/2021 between the hours 08:30 – 15:30 will be carried out works of installation of reflective prisms on the safety parapet of the main island of the road, in the section from the exit of Kolossi to Petra tou Romiou . During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections at a length of 1000m. approximately in one direction only, at any time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
In Nicosia, on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue , from its junction with Limassol Avenue to the Tseriou roundabout, from Monday 14/6/2021 to Friday 18/8/2021 , from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the next morning, road repairs will be carried out. During the works, the left lanes will be closed in sections 1000 m long, approximately and the traffic will be circulated through the avenues of Limassol, Joseph Xiosif and Constantinople to Tseriou Avenue.
Also in Nicosia, on Makariou Avenue , from the junction of the lights on Kennedy Avenue to the junction with the traffic lights on Ethnikis Frouras Street, on Saturday 7/24/2021 at 05:00 in the morning until 05:00 in the morning of Monday 26/7/2021 , all traffic lanes will be closed due to pipeline replacement works of the Nicosia Sewerage Council. Drivers heading to the city center are encouraged to use Armenia Avenue to get to their destination while drivers heading to Limassol are encouraged to use Karpenisiou Street. Drivers from Kennedy Avenue west to east are also requested to use Karpenisiou Street for the city center and to use Stasinou Avenue for a walk to Limassol. Also, Ethnikis Frouras Street will be completely closed for this and drivers from Kallipoleos Street are requested to use the above detours to go to their destination.
In the province of Nicosia, from Monday 19/4/21 and for a period of 6 months , except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, between the hours of 07: 00–17: 00, road repair works will be carried out on roads in various areas. During the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be partially closed in a length of approximately 200 meters and the traffic will be distributed in the other traffic lane, using the “STOP & GO” marking.
In the province of Limassol, on the road Agios Athanasios-Mathikoloni , in the period 20/7/2021 – 13/8/2021 , between the hours 07:00 – 15:30, every day except weekends, wall construction works will be carried out by a private Contracting Company. During the works, one 100m long lane will be partially closed at any time. approximately each time and the traffic will be managed alternately with temporary traffic lights.
On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the context of the construction works of the Road Network of the Vasilikos Energy Center, in the period 24/4 / 2021-23 / 10/2021 , the eastern road that connects the old Nicosia-Limassol road with the port of Vasilikos is closed to traffic. During the works, the traffic traffic to and from Vasiliko will be channeled to the respective western road, through Marie, except for vehicles and pedestrians that will move from and to temporary properties for which the appropriate arrangements will be made.
Also on the old road Nicosia-Limassol, in the period 27/05 / 2021-30 / 07/2021 every day except weekends, between the hours of 07: 00-16: 00, construction works of water pipes will be carried out by the Department of Water Development. During the works, part of a traffic lane of the old Nicosia-Limassol road, from the 'Stavrovouni Reservoir' to the WFD pumping station in Kofinou , in the direction of Kofinou, will be partially closed in a length of approximately 100 meters (total length 650 meters, approximately) and the traffic will take place in the adjacent traffic lane, with the use of temporary traffic lights.
On the old road Nicosia-Limassol also, in the period 21/06 / 2021–13 / 08/2021 every day except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, construction works of water pipes will be carried out by the Department of Water Development. During the works, part of a road lane, from the “Pig Reservoir” to the WFD pumping station in Kofinou in the direction of Kofinou, will be partially closed in a length of about 100 meters (total length about 850 meters) and traffic of traffic will take place in the adjacent traffic lane, with the use of temporary traffic lights.
In part of the old Limassol-Nicosia s street, despite the Monastery node, the construction / pipeline installation work continues for the needs of SALA, a private company. The works will last until Friday 30/7/2021 and will be carried out from 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 pm, daily except Sundays and public holidays. During the works, the northern lane in the direction of Nicosia in a length of 120m will be partially closed. approximately, the traffic will be diverted to the southern lane and the traffic will be managed with temporary traffic lights.
