Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), & nbsp; is the condition in which there is gastric acid reflux from the stomach to the lower part of the & nbsp; esophagus. This condition is usually due to & nbsp; insufficiency of the lower esophageal sphincter, which is a normal mechanism so that food and stomach fluids do not return to the esophagus after eating.

Treatment

These lesions can range from the simplest such as mild esophagitis without dysplasia, to severe malformations, metaplasia (Barrett's esophagus) or even the development of esophageal cancer.
