Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), & nbsp; is the condition in which there is gastric acid reflux from the stomach to the lower part of the & nbsp; esophagus. This condition is usually due to & nbsp; insufficiency of the lower esophageal sphincter, which is a normal mechanism so that food and stomach fluids do not return to the esophagus after eating.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic condition that presents clinically with & nbsp; caustic pain & nbsp; behind the sternum, with & nbsp; acid reflux, & nbsp; reduction of fluid or food & nbsp; into the esophagus, usually after meals and after. Of course, there are situations in which reflux is & nbsp; latent, ie it does not cause any symptoms.
