The Ministry of Tourism welcomes the decision of Royal Caribbean, the largest cruise company in the world, to include Cyprus in its program for the months of June, July and August 2021. It also welcomes the fact that the above initiative will be implemented with its most modern and advanced ship of world scope, which will be delivered soon.
This cruise program includes departure from Israel, then stops in Cyprus and Greece and finally return to Israel. The ship is expected to approach Cyprus about 15 times, within the quarter June – August 2021, with the prospect of additional stations in the coming months.
It is worth noting that a major role in the company's decision to implement the cruises was played by the agreement between the Governments of Cyprus and Israel for distribution, from April 1, without PCR or the need for self-restraint for Israeli citizens who received the cruise. vaccine.
The passengers of the ship will be all Israelis, who have already been vaccinated. In addition, before boarding, travelers will submit two negative tests and, during the cruise, will be subject to additional checks.
This important agreement for our country was reached after tireless and intensive efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, which lasted about six months, since the whole project started in September 2020. It is noted that the agreement is a great success for cruise tourism in our country , which paves the way for further development, at a time when the impact of this sector, due to the pandemic, was huge.
Also noteworthy is the fact that Cyprus is one of the few countries in the world that have already achieved their inclusion in important cruise programs. Through them, our country will be intensively promoted in the coming months.
The Ministry of Tourism would like to publicly thank the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Ministry of Shipping for their valuable support and the provision of know-how so that this agreement for our country can be successfully concluded.
