Much of Ukraine on alert – 'Seek shelter', citizens told
Russian bombers and drones are flying in the direction of Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities warned in the early hours of the morning, issuing an alert for airstrikes across much of the country , the day after massive Russian strikes against energy infrastructure.
“The Ukrainian Air Force confirms the take-off of (Tupolev bombers) Tu-95MS from Engels Air Base (in southwestern Russia). Missiles may enter Ukrainian airspace in about two hours,” the Ukrainian air force said via Telegram at around 04:00 (local and Greek time), adding that drones were also headed for its territory.
Two people were killed in Krevi Ri (central Ukraine) in a Russian strike against civilian infrastructure, local officials said earlier.
Journalists from the Reuters news agency report that three series of explosions were heard in Kiev; it remains unclear whether they were shootings. targets or strikes.
“Do not defy the alarms, seek shelter”, the Air Force warned citizens via Telegram.
