Its intention to impose new unjustified increases from January 1, 2024< /strong>after cumulative increases of 33% that have been imposed over the last two years, the contractor company P&O Maritime Logistics, which exclusively offers maritime services to ships in the port of Limassol, announced to port users.
The Association of Maritime Agents of Cyprus warns that the new increases will bring about chain increases in trade and consumers.
Despite the fact that based on the calculation formula in the contract with the state where the respective increases (Indexation) no right arises for new increases at the ports for the coming year, the company relies on a clause in the contract which claims that it gives it the right for new increases in the fees it charges the ships.
Expected that the materially responsible Ministry of Transport, after receiving a timely letter of protest from the Association of Maritime Agents of Cyprus with notification to all involved bodies, will take at least the bare minimum of necessary and required actions to avoid a new round of abusive increases at the ports that burden the already high inflationary trends of the economy.
