The Italian coastguard and firefighters rescued 15 people, including a child
The 55m sailing yacht Bayesian carrying 22 people sank in the early hours off the >Palermo in Sicily with the latest tally reporting one dead and six missing, as announced by the Italian Coast Guard.
“A dead person has been found on the hull, but has not been recovered from the 50-meter depth,” a coastguard spokesman explained. He is among the seven missing people who were reported earlier, four British, two American and one Canadian.
The coast guard and firefighters rescued 15 people, including a child, after the A British-flagged vessel sank when a tornado and rough seas hit the area at sunrise.
Rescuers are in a stable condition.
Helicopter, coastguard vessels and fire service divers< strong>are continuing the search around the vessel which is now at a depth of 50 meters and at a distance of half a nautical mile from the coast.

On board the yacht were several British, two Anglo-French, one Irish, one New Zealander and one Sri Lankan, according to information from the Adnkronos agency.

Bayesian was built in Tuscany in 2008 and renovated in 2020, according to information from the TGCom 24 website.
The sailboat is equipped with a central aluminum mast which, with a height of 75 meters, is considered the largest in the world. Its sails have a total area of 3,000 sq/m.
