The head of the municipal team of DIKO in the Municipality of Paphos and member of the Board of SAPA, Giannis Koulountis, finds mistakes in the purchase of the buildings of the Cooperative Central Bank, next to the Paphos Courthouse on the SAPA side./b>
In his intervention, he points out that the specific & nbsp; buildings were bought for 3.2 million euros & nbsp; with most of them being 50-60 years old. Without determining the needs of SAPA and without prior technical report and static adequacy control, he points out. & nbsp;
“That is, they were bought blindly, as almost no one does when they manage their own money,” said Mr. Koulountis. “The regulations of the time, that is, in the 60s and 70s, did not provide for anti-seismic buildings. These buildings were not constructed to receive
seismic forces but only static loads.
Reinforced concrete buildings are typically designed to last for approximately 50 years. & nbsp; These buildings are likely to be damaged after 50-60 years and & nbsp; show damage such as carbonation of concrete and
oxidation of reinforcement. With this data, & nbsp; most likely the buildings do not
