Following an evaluation of information received by EUROPOL, members of the Cybercrime Prosecution Headquarters arrested a person today on a warrant.
This is a 35-year-old man who was detained to facilitate interrogations. The 35-year-old was brought today before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a four-day detention order.
The 35-year-old's arrest was preceded by a court-ordered search of the home where he lives, following information that a specific social media platform account holder/user sent other users a video file of child sexual abuse material.
The 35-year-old was found in possession of three mobile phones, which were taken as evidence to be sent for scientific examinations.
The Headquarters of the Cybercrime Prosecution Headquarters continues the examinations.
