Sener Levent sends Turkey to the ECtHR

A case against Turkey at the ECtHR was filed by the director and editor-in-chief of Avrupa, Siener Levent, for infringement of freedom of expression.

According to the GTP, the issue was on the front pages of the newspaper on December 24 showing statements by Levent's lawyer, Angel Polili, who, invoking Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights regarding freedom of expression, said that Sen. Levent had denounced Turkey for violating freedom of expression and for ‘ judicial harassment’ which has been carried out against him for years by Ankara, with the successive lawsuits and criminal cases opened against him.

The fact that a case was opened against Levent is a violation of Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights in Ankara and his conviction, after his acquittal in the case related to the "action on the cartoon" and while the decision of the "appeal" was awaited, the newspaper notes.

At the moment, a total of 7 criminal cases against Sener Levent are pending in "courts". in possession and another 3 that were filed in courts in Turkey, reports the publication.

The aim of these cases, the newspaper notes, is to silence and silence Avrupa and Sener Levent himself.
