In the place of people with disabilities were students and students of K' Elementary School of Limassol, Agios Panteleimonas, as in the last few days they participate in a series of activities, culminating in today's participation in a wheelchair basketball game.
The actions, which are organized from time to time in various primary and secondary schools, on the occasion of the International Day of the Disabled, on December 3, aim on the one hand to raise awareness and inform children and on the other hand, to give them the opportunity to experience for themselves what it means to be a person with a disability, the school teacher and member of the Pancypriot Organization of Persons with Disabilities, Christiana Grigoriou, told KYPE.
“The children were invited to feel what it is like to be blind, since eyes followed instructions, they were invited to feel what it's like to not have some fingers and have to write, they watched alternative ways of communication and learned Christmas songs in sign language”, he added.
