The intervention of the Minister of Energy Natasa Pileidou was requested by the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade, in order to ensure the jobs and the development of the 18 employees of DEFA LTD (currently a state-owned company) when transferred to DEFA public law (new semi-governmental organization) . A thorn in the side of promoting the bill in plenary is the issue of promotions in the public service. Specifically, the deputies invited Ms. Pilidou to submit within the next weeks the service plans of the staff that will work in the new semi-governmental organization. During the discussion, it became clear that the terms of the service plans will probably be in line with the qualifications of the existing staff at DEFA LTD. By securing the jobs and promotions of the existing staff, the concerns of the parties will be amused, so that the bill can be forwarded to the Plenary Session of the Parliament.

The SEC, in a memorandum to the members of the Trade Committee, requests that the existing staff be equated with civil servants. As the organizing secretary of SEK Pantelis Koumas points out in the memo, the staff of DEFA will be able to be secured through the acquisition of employment status under public law. According to Mr. Koumas, during the contacts that took place last month with the involved bodies, there were convergences in a series of issues proposed by the SEC, however, he notes that the issue of the possibility of claiming positions of promotion and promotions remains open, as well as securing the positions currently held by existing staff.
