Just twenty-four hours after settling in Miami, Shakira, through one of her posts, appealed to the media to respect her children, asking photographers and journalists not to follow her two sons, Milan and Sasha, at every step.
Noting that the two children had gone through a particularly difficult time, he pleaded with journalists to stop besieging them, noting: “Dear friends, journalists and media, in this period of change in my life, it is understandable that there is permanent curiosity on the part of of the press for me and my family. But my children, Milan and Sasha, lived a very difficult year, under constant siege and relentless pursuit by the paparazzi and various media in Barcelona.
Now, as we begin a new phase of our lives, I earnestly request – on behalf of my children – that the media respect their right to privacy. I beg you, do not follow them when they enter or leave the school, do not wait for them at the door of our house, nor chase them in their extracurricular and recreational activities as happened every day in Barcelona, in order to take pictures”.
Through her post, the singer expressed her hope that journalists will understand the situation and deal with her two children “in the most humane way”, and realize that this “is about the health and physical and mental integrity of two minors , 8 and 10 years old, who just want to be able to go out, go to school feeling safe and have the peace of mind that they are not being chased or under constant camera scrutiny.”
In the post her, the star clarified that she is asking for all this not as an artist, “but as a mother who wants to protect and care for the psychological and emotional well-being of her children so that they can live a healthy and happy life, as every child deserves.” .
“Thank you for your support and understanding,” she wrote at the end of her post.
