Last night, in the city of Rimini in northeastern Italy, two female inspectors asked a bus passenger to show them their ticket. The man, who did not have it, took a knife out of his pocket, injured the employees of the urban transport organization and immediately afterwards tried to run away.
Police located the perpetrator but before he could arrest him, he injured three other people, including a woman and a small child, with a knife to the neck.
So far, prosecutors do not consider him a terrorist. The perpetrator is of Somali origin and was temporarily residing in a Red Cross reception center.
According to testimonies, he was very irritable in his contacts with the other guests and it is not excluded that he had used drugs last night. He had recently asked the Italian authorities to grant him political asylum.
According to the doctors of the hospital of Rimini, the child who stabbed the neck of a bus passenger last night, who was probably in a state of amok, is being treated in a serious condition.
