Short circuit the cause of the fire that completely destroyed 6 cars in Larnaca

A short circuit in the first car that was in the garage of the house in Larnaca, seems to have caused the fire from which six cars were completely destroyed, while a two-storey house was damaged.

According to the Fire Service, around 03.56 a call was received for a fire in two motor vehicles which were parked in a private parking lot on Kalymnou Street, in the area of Faneromeni in Larnaca.

Members of the Police and the Fire Service rushed to the scene with four fire trucks and the fire was brought under control around 04.42.

The fire in the two vehicles ignited oil and hydraulic oil storage containers which the owner stored inside the parking lot, as a result of which the fire spread to the owner's two-storey house and caused extensive damage.

Also due to the downhill terrain of the area, the petroleum products rolled in flames on the road resulting in fire four more vehicles, which were parked, three on Kalymnou Street and one on Agios Georgios Makris Street.

However, due to the downhill terrain of the area, there was a flow of flammable material from which six cars were completely destroyed while the ground floor house suffered extensive damage, while the upstairs house also suffered several damages.

The scene was cordoned off by the police and in the morning members of the Police, the Fire Brigade and the Electromechanical Service, carried out examinations to determine the causes of the fire.

From the examinations carried out, the Electromechanical Service ruled that the fire started from a short circuit suffered by one of the two cars that was in the garage of the house.
