She was battling breast cancer
The member of the Irish-English band Girls Aloud, Sarah Harding, passed away today, Sunday, at the age of 39, as announced by Marie's mother. Harding was battling breast cancer.
The singer announced last August that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had metastasized to other parts of her body. On Sunday, her mother announced the news on Instagram.
“Many of you will know Sarah's battle with cancer and that she fought so hard from her diagnosis until her last day. “He left peacefully this morning,” he wrote. He added that Harding was a “shining star” and would like to be remembered for it, rather than for her fight against cancer.
Harding announced earlier this year that a doctor had told her she would probably not be alive next Christmas. In her autobiography, released in March, she said she decided to announce her illness in the hope that those concerned would seek medical help and not delay the diagnosis of cancer until it was too late.
