Police arrested six people, following an operation carried out last night, in the context of the investigation of the murder case that was committed last December, in Larnaca, with the victim Andreas Evangelou, 53 years old. These are six men, aged 44 to 19, who were arrested on warrants.
Three people have been arrested for the offenses of conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated murder, participation in a criminal organization, participation and acceptance of crimes, illegal possession and transfer of a firearm, and illegal possession and transfer of explosives. 44, 23 and 19 years old.
At the same time, based on the information that emerged, a fourth person, a 28-year-old man, was arrested for the under investigation offenses of participation in a criminal organization, participation and acceptance of committing crimes, and destruction of evidence.
Two other people, 20-year-old men, were arrested in the context of last night's operation in connection with an investigated case of committing the offenses of illegal possession of a controlled drug, and money laundering.
The operation to locate and arrest the suspects was carried out around 11.00 on Thursday night, with the participation of members of TAE, OPE and YKAN Larnaca, members of the Crime Fighting Department, Police Headquarters, and members of MMAD. It was completed shortly after midnight, while searches followed at the homes, premises and vehicles of the arrested.
During the investigations, evidence was found which is being evaluated by investigators of TAE Larnaca. Small quantities of drugs and sums of money were also found, with YKAN investigating.
The six suspects were detained for the purpose of police investigations, with the Larnaca Police Department and YKAN continuing the investigations.
The murder of 53-year-old Andreas Evangelos was committed around 8.30 pm on December 28, 2021, in the parking lot of an apartment building in Larnaca, while he was parking his car. According to the information under investigation, two persons riding a scooter-type motorcycle approached him and one of them shot at him, injuring him fatally.
