Six-hour work stoppage of taxi drivers on February 7

PoAT – POVEK announced a six-hour work stoppage from 7am to 1pm for Monday, February 7, as a sign of protest for the non-inclusion of the Urban Taxi sector in the one-time sponsorship announced by the Minister of Finance.

The rally will take place in central parts of the cities and at Larnaca and Paphos airports.

In a statement, POAT – POVEK states that despite the correspondence it had with the competent Ministries and despite the many arguments it developed, it was surprised to “hear the announcement of the Minister for the 2022 one-time sponsorship which leaves the Urban Taxi sector out of the charges he has announced “.

He states that “the pandemic continues to greatly affect the taxi industry, since from 1/11/2021 until today 70% of tourist units and tourist accommodation are closed and will continue to be until April 2022 with resulting in a reduction of turnover by 85% “.
