The President of the Republic expressed his certainty that the cooperation between Cyprus and SKY express will be further strengthened in the coming years.
In the context of a special ceremony held at Larnaca “Glafkos Cleridis” International Airport, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, SKY express with the support of Hermes Airports, fulfilled its commitment to give its first AIRBUS type aircraft A321neo named “CYPROS”. The naming ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Greece in Cyprus, Mr. Ioannis Papameletiou, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafiadis, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, representatives of Hermes Airports, representatives of Cypriot agencies, partners of SKY express, as well as and media representatives from Cyprus and Greece.
On behalf of Hermes Airports, the President was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer Ms. Eleni Kalogirou and the Vice President of the Board of Directors Mr. Iakovos Iakovou.
During his speech, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, referred to the dynamic development of SKY express in recent years and praised its offer, stressing that it contributes significantly to the effort of Cyprus and is a vote of confidence for the country. At the same time, he expressed his certainty that the cooperation between Cyprus and SKY express will be further strengthened in the coming years.
The Chief Executive Officer of Hermes Airports, Mrs. Eleni Kalogiroustated: “The “CYPROS” aircraft honors both our country and our airport as it will be an ambassador of Cyprus throughout Europe. SKY express, with the continuous strengthening of its fleet, services and itineraries, is consolidating its position in the market, while its investment in our island and its long-term view of the development of tourism is a vote of confidence in the dynamics of the Cypriot product. I wish this aircraft a safe journey”.
Mr. Ioannis Grilos, Founder & President of the IOGR Group, of which SKY express is also a member, stated among other things: “About three years ago, in the midst of a pandemic, we chose Cyprus as our first international destination. Our decision has been fully justified. With our presence, we created conditions of healthy competition, which resulted in the reduction of fares, the improvement of services and the offer of a modern aviation product, with the passenger public ultimately benefiting.
