German Chancellor Olaf Solz stressed the readiness of the EU to impose sanctions in case of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as the efforts made for a diplomatic exit, in a press conference he gave shortly after the conclusion of the EU Summit. -African Union.
Asked about the latest developments between Ukraine and Russia, Olaf Solz said “the situation is very critical”, with “a large concentration of Russian troops around Ukraine”. The German Chancellor stressed that in case of a Russian military invasion of Ukraine, “we are prepared, there will be consequences and we will act together with sanctions imposed by the EU in coordination with the US and our allies in NATO.”
