Some pack their bags… The most sought after destinations and what it takes to enter the country

Many Cypriots prepare their travel suitcases to enjoy their summer holidays abroad, although under pandemic conditions.

The coronavirus epidemic last summer deprived citizens of the opportunity to travel abroad, but this year, despite the spread of the Delta mutation, the availability of vaccines allows us to plan holidays outside Cyprus.

In a communication of the Cyprus Times , with the President of the Association of Travel Agents of Cyprus, Vassilis Stamataris , we were told that he is not able to know in detail which are the most sought after places, however there is intense interest from Cypriots to travel to neighboring Greece .

There are programs by tour operators that refer to several European destinations and the fact that there is a category of vaccinated makes this process easier, as they can travel freely, he added.

Mr. Stamataris explained that “there are green, yellow, orange and red categories. Within these categories of countries , one has the right to travel to a country when fully vaccinated. In those cases, even if you are in the red category, there is a possibility that some country will ask you for an additional PCR before arrival. However, this is a general framework, in order to determine exactly what is valid, you have to see country by country. “

Asked to comment on whether the Cypriots will choose to spend their summer holidays abroad or at home, Mr. Stamataris said that most of those who are vaccinated with both doses, are the ones who are the first to create a program for the summer , for holidays outside Cyprus . “Because as vaccinated they can move more easily and feel more secure,” he stressed.

The Cyprus Times has compiled some of the hottest summer destinations in the European Union, and lists the entry rules that apply to them.
