The police, who had the twitter photos of the animals, said that the animals were located around 05.00 in the morning, while the roads of Karabadsel neighborhood were widely walked into the southern suburbs of the Spanish capital.
They accompanied them safely to the Quiros circus, nearby, to which they belong.
“With God's help, nothing happened,” one of the circus officials, Mati Munoz, said in a statement to AFP.
“We believe that this is a sabotage by these animal rights organizations, which come to protest every year,” he said, claiming that the electrical fence had been breached so that the animals could leave.
The circus has filed a lawsuit and an investigation is ongoing.
