According to an announcement by the Metropolis of Tamasos and Orini, in his speech during the press conference, Metropolitan Isaias spoke about the pastoral practices followed by the Church, which are likely to contribute to the development of such phenomena and spoke of new modernized approaches to such issues.

“To the extent that it concerns us, in a theological view of the problem, we could wonder if old world, non-Christian concepts survive and shape social morals and behaviors even in the church space?” , he wondered.

Urgently, he said, we must develop synergies, programs across the entire scope of the Metropolises of the Church of Cyprus and at the same time support infrastructures to deal with violence in the family.

The Church must “wake up from the lethargy of conservatism and outdated concepts, to purify the always timeless and loving message of the Gospel, which has been flooded with historically old conservatives and prejudices and let the genuine, ever-renewing spirit of Jesus' love lead us to new, modernized positions, approaches and handling”, in matters such as violence against women, Metropolitan Isaiah concluded.
