The need to prevent failures in construction by providing appropriate consulting services from Civil Engineers was expressed by the President of SPOLMIK Evangelitsa Tsoulofta.
According to today's announcement by SPOLMIK, on Monday, July 11, a delegation of the Civil Engineers Association of Cyprus (SPOLMIK) was received by the Auditor General of the Republic Odysseus Michaelides, at the offices of the Audit Service.
Initially, the President of SPOLMIK Evagelitsa Tsoulofta was briefed on the Association's activities and in particular for the upcoming events to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Mrs. Tsoulofta, on the occasion of the recent collapse of a balcony and a cantilever in Paphos, pointed out the need to prevent failures in buildings by providing appropriate consulting services from Civil Engineers.
The General Treasurer of the Association and National Representative of Cyprus to the FIDIC organization, Varnavas Lambrou, referred to the specialized Two-Day Seminar on Construction Contracts and the presentation of the FIDIC Green Book, held in February 2022, while pointing out the need for training on the correct use of of FIDIC Construction Contracts in Cyprus.
The Vice-President/Next President of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE), Coordinator of the SPOLMIK Committee for the translation of FIDIC Contracts into the Greek language and former President of SPOLMIK, Platonas Stylianou , emphasized the importance of the Association's networking with scientific/professional organizations abroad, while the General Secretary of SPOLMIK, Kyriakos Tsiupanis, referred to the need to promote Civil Engineering in Cypriot society.
The Auditor General informed the delegation of Civil Engineers for the most recent actions of the Audit Service ias, with particular reference to the start of the environmental audit in relation to the protected area of the Akamas peninsula.
In the context of the meeting, SPOLMIK donated for use by the Audit Service a Contract for each of the most recent versions of the FIDIC Contracts.
