On Tuesday, the employees of a hotel unit in Paphos went on a spontaneous strike, demanding the payment of ATA and the implementation of the signed collective agreement.

With placards inscribed with slogans such as “Hands off ATA”, “ATA – respect for the agreed”, “ATA for all” the employees of the specific hotel unit gathered outside their workplace in Paphos.

In his statements to KYPE, Koulis Ignatiou, Secretary of the Hoteliers' Association of Greece, stated that the employees of the specific hotel were paid on Friday, however, their salary did not include the indexation allowance for which there was an opinion from the Legal Service of the Republic.

According, he said, to the opinion of the Legal Service “clearly, the salary of the hotel employee must include an indexation allowance and the increase of 1.5%, which was agreed upon for the renewal of the collective agreement until 31.12.23” .

He also added that “since the employees did not see the increase and the indexation allowance they reacted and stayed out of it, while they notified their unions”.

Mr. Ignatiou noted that a meeting of the company with the Labor Office is scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday at 11:00. He pointed out, however, that the unions also received complaints about other hotels that did not pay the price index and the increases, adding that a relevant complaint was made to the Ministry and they appealed to the Mediation Service for violation of the collective agreement and violation of the Law regarding the price index. < /p>

According to the Provincial Secretary of the Hotel Employees Branch of the PEO Nikos Savvidis, “half of the hoteliers of Pafos do not implement the agreement reached last October to grant increases to the workers in the industry and he said that the unions support the mobilization of the workers”.

He reminded that from January 1 they should pay one second of the ATA to the workers, which some units refuse to do. They also breached the agreement to pay increases to the workers, he said.

He also called on the relevant Ministry to ensure that the employer side will abide by the agreements that have been signed and recalled the opinion of the Legal Service.

< p>The representatives of the unions, answering a related question, did not rule out the possibility that tomorrow the hotel employees will go on a spontaneous strike.
