Spraying to combat Aedes aegypti mosquitoes continues in Larnaca, while from tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st, the treatment of thriving mosquitoes in public and private spaces will begin. it is reported that “spraying continues to combat mosquitoes, especially those of the Aedes aegypti species which are capable (under certain conditions) of transmitting diseases to humans, such as the Yellow Fever virus, the Dengue virus, the Zika virus and the Chikungunya virus”.

Crews made up of personnel from the Health Services of the Ministry of Health and the Municipality, continue the campaign against the Aedes aegypti mosquito by informing the public door-to-door, spraying larvicide as well as emptying containers with stagnant water.

It is added that “as part of the campaign, it was deemed necessary to carry out extermination to combat this specific type of mosquito with an approved chemical formulation, in public areas, i.e. parks, fences and others and in private areas such as yards and gardens of homes and businesses”.< /p>

The spraying in municipal parks will be carried out by a motorized crew of the Sanitary Service of the Municipality of Larnaca and public entry will be prohibited for 24 hours by placing markings at their entrances, it is noted.

With regard to spraying in private areas, i.e. house gardens, lawns, fences and elsewhere, the written consent of the owner/occupier of the house/property will be required, which will include in detail the precautionary measures he must take, it states.

The Municipality informs that the mosquito killing will be implemented from tomorrow, Thursday, December 1, 2022 and invites citizens to “cooperate with what competent services for the best possible result and the protection of Public Health”.
