The Russian Sputnik-V vaccine may be approved for use in the EU in February-early March, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, said today, speaking on Russia-1 TV show Vesti.
“We have submitted the documents for approval (of the Russian vaccine) to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which is the European regulatory authority, and this examination process may take place in February, possibly until the beginning of March,” Dmitriev said.
Earlier, Dmitriev said that the first stage of obtaining a license for emergency use of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine in the European Union is scheduled for the end of January. According to him, this is the so-called scientific consultation. The application for an Emergency Use Authorization (EUА) of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine was submitted by the RDIF on 22 December.
