Yet the labyrinthine building-house of the “Squid Game” guards is a real building

The search for new experiences in our time is ever increasing. The new psychology, a product of the health crisis we are experiencing, for better or worse pushes people to the philosophy of a lifestyle that moves at an ever faster pace, as life is now defined by the uncertainty of tomorrow and has as its flag the verb “to catch up” ». So, among the things one should catch this summer is the desire to experience some of the madness of the South Korean series 'Squid Game', which swept into popularity this year, by making a reservation at the band La Muralla Roja (The Red Wall ).

The labyrinthine building housing the guards in “Squid Game”, a set that covered the needs of the series, is a real building and is located in the Costa Blanca, in southern Spain. The super colorful construction, full of stairs that the series characters cross to get to the game areas, can become a tangible dream. The post-modern red apartment complex was designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofil in 1968 and completed in 1973. The building is stylistically reminiscent of the popular Arab Mediterranean architecture, also known as the 'Kasbah'.

The hotel resembles a fortress emerging from a rocky landscape, with a series of interconnected staircases, corridors and bridges leading to the 50 apartments (60, 80 and 120 m2), where the separation of public and private space is challenged. The dominant colors of the building in bright blue and coral, constantly change with the changes of light, thus creating a perpetual color play that greatly fascinates the occupants. The intense coral color that covers both the external and internal facades of the walls was chosen deliberately, either to contrast with nature, or to act as an important element that complements it. The architect's desire for complete sociability was fulfilled with the communal roof terraces, solarium, swimming pool and sauna shared daily by hotel guests. The strictly geometric red maze of La Muralla Roja, a terrifying structure that became even scarier after the “Squid Game” resembles a dystopian environment that many find challenging. The cost of accommodation is not at all low, as a night in it costs 200 euros.

The craze of the moment for a reservation at any cost did not touch only the fans of the TV series who want to feel on their skin the adrenaline rush like it was in the game, but also those who are looking for new life experiences. Now if the rooms are waiting for young and old guests with bags of the famous South Korean caramel cookies (Dalgona) favorite delicacy of children – also known from the TV series – I have no information. A tour of the hotel's website may also lead you to one of La Muralla Roja's beachfront apartments for your vacation this year.
