The creator of the series discusses the 2nd season

“Squid Game” is not just another Netflix series that is a worldwide success, it is reportedly the most successful series in the history of the platform. That is why it is logical that the viewers want more since, if nothing else, the first season ended with … the possibility for a continuation is open.
So far the possibility of the series continuing with a second season was almost non-existent but now its creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk seems to be changing his mind.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hwang explained that he would like to analyze the characters' stories further: '' What happens between the two brothers? And I could tell the story of the 'recruiter' in the suit who plays the game with Gi-hun and gives him the card in the first episode. And of course I can pick the story of Gi-hun coming back and explore how he will handle the people who designed the games. I will say that there are many chances for the second season “.
Despite his statements, he did not clarify the future of the series while the head of Netflix global programming, Bela Bajaria, said that there are discussions but the plans depend on Hwang's program since he already has a film and other projects in which he is working.
