The submission of applications from parents for participation in the Tuition Subsidy and Feeding Scheme for children up to four years of age and in the new Tuition Subsidy and Feeding Scheme for children aged from four years to four years and six months for the year 2024-2025, as stated in an announcement by the Welfare Benefits Management Service of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare.
The specific plans were approved by the Council of Ministers on July 8, 2024.
Beneficiaries of the Plans are all beneficiaries of Child Benefit for 2024, who have a dependent child, who has not reached the age of four years and six months by 31/8/2024 and have enrolled the beneficiary child in a nursery school or kindergarten participating in the Plans.
Based on the Plans, up to 80% of the monthly costs for the children of the target group to attend nurseries and kindergartens are subsidized. It is noted that the same criteria apply to the new Plan for children up to four years and six months old as the Tuition Subsidy and Feeding Plan for children up to four years old.
The online application, which is single for both Schemes, will open for parents on 2 September 2024 and will be posted on the Government Portal and its website Welfare Benefits Administration Service.
It is clarified that all parents must complete an application, regardless of whether some parents were already eligible for the 2023-2024 school year.
Explanatory information for completing the online application has been posted on the website www.wbas.dmsw.gov.cy. To access the online application, parents must create and confirm the personal access account through the government portal gov.cy. The online application is submitted only by the parent, who is considered the beneficiary of the Child Benefit.
Upon submission of the online application and given that the criteria mentioned above are met, parents will be immediately informed of the approval of the application and the grant will be paid directly to provider on a monthly basis, from the month in which the online application will be submitted.
Beneficiaries, who will submit their online application until September 30, 2024, will be able to benefit from the subsidy from 1/9/2024 or from the start of the child's studies if this is later, while for beneficiaries who will submit the their application later, the subsidy will start from the month of submission of the application.
If approved, the grant will be valid for the entire school year. It is noted that the payment of the subsidy is always made after the end of each month and therefore for the month (only) in which the application is submitted, providers are encouraged to pre-pay as their usual practice and return after the difference.
