Stefanou responds to Pamporidis about the

AKEL general secretary Stefanos Stefanou made statements on Saturday, commenting on the current situation with the presidential elections. Among other things, Stefanos Stefanou responded to today's front page of the newspaper “Phileleftheros”, which talks about the removal of the former Minister of Health George Pamporidis from the party list, saying characteristically that “their tongue has pulled out their hair” to say that there was no discussion about names and that there is nothing newer than what has been said all this time.

More specifically, the AKEL secretary general reiterated that a specific political framework has been decided in the Central Committee, based on which the party will move to two levels. The first level concerns the contacts with the opposition parties and the second the discussion with the party base, the party friends as well as the New Forces. “We are in a different phase from the nomenclature,” he stressed.

As for the time frame within which the substantial developments are expected to take place, the secretary general of the Left party said that this conversation can not go far, because it has already started prematurely, due to the inter-alarm clash. He added that a timetable has already been prepared that aims to complete the necessary procedures for the party to reach out to the candidate it will support in the spring. Asked if this means that we should wait until the end of May, Mr. Stefanou said that we may talk about much earlier, but without being able to specify exact dates, until the contacts with the other parties are completed and the prospects that exist.
