    Today, on the last day of his visit to Cyprus, the President of Germany Frank< walked the picturesque cobbled streets of Lefkara /strong>–Walter Steinmeier, who was given a tour of the Municipality, informed about its history and tried traditional Turkish delights.

    The President of Germany was welcomed at around 11 this morning, in the square of Lefkara, by Mayor Sophocles Sophokleous who offered him a Lefkarite embroidery and referred to the history of this specific embroidery.

    Then was guided through the picturesque and cobbled streets of Lefkara by Titina Loizidou, who spoke about the history, tradition and architecture of the Municipality.

    < p>Afterwards, the President of Germany and his entourage went to the Church of the Holy Cross where he was received by Father Christomarios, who informed him that he is temporarily staying in Lefkara as he is a refugee from Akanthou.

    Father Christomarios called Mr. Steinmeier, since Germany has good relations with Turkey, to put pressure on that country, in order to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, which does not do injustice to the Turkish Cypriots or the Greek Cypriots, but is fair and sustainable.

    In response, the German President referred to the press conference he gave with the President of the Republic during which they mentioned that Nicosia is the last divided capital of Europe and we must make efforts to reunite the island and find a good solution.

    This was followed by a tour of the church and on the way out they tasted Cypriot coffee and Lefkarite Turkish delight.

    The President of Germany and his entourage visited the Handicrafts Center where they watched the women embroider Leukarite embroidery.

    The visit ended with a visit to a traditional silversmith where the art of smoking was demonstrated, while the German President tried traditional cookies.

    Before the visit to Lefkara, the President of Germany visited the Reception and Hospitality Applicants Center >International Protection (KYFADP) in Kofinou, where he was given a tour by the Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Ioannou and was informed about the Government's policy in relation to immigration management.

    The President of Germany also had the opportunity to talk with residents, the staff of the Center, members of Non-Governmental Organizations and voluntary groups active at the Center.

    The visit of Mr. Steinmeier in Cyprus concluded with a meal hosted by the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis at a restaurant in Kato Dry.
