STEK welcomes the passage by the House of Representatives of the legislation which makes it a criminal offense to vandalize signs on the country's road network. which does not treat honor for a country that wants to be seen as a quality tourist destination. On the contrary, it undermines the efforts of those organizations that try to promote the advantages and special characteristics of our country abroad (culture, short distances, easy-to-use road network).
He notes that, as STEK took the lead in dealing with the problem, and we hope that the new legislation will be implemented immediately and effectively and that the penalties that will be imposed will indeed be deterrent. our previous recommendations such as enhanced surveillance, improved signage design with innovative and durable materials, and immediate cleaning and maintenance where damage is found.
