Cyprus's strategy for Occupational Safety and Health, which covers the years 2021-2027 and which was signed at a recent event of the Labor Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labor by all social partners, is based on ten main axes. The text of the strategy, which was approved by the Pancyprian Council for Safety and Health (PSAY), the Labor Advisory Board and the Council of Ministers, was signed by the Minister of Labor Zeta Aimilianidou and representatives of the PSAY organizations.
The representatives of the organizations, through their brief statements, stressed the important contribution of the Strategy to the development of a positive safety and health culture and the provision of high levels of safety and health in the workplace, expressing their full support in the effort to implement the Strategy, through Action Plan which has been prepared for this purpose. The Cyprus Strategy in the field of Occupational Safety and Health 2021 – 2027 aims to implement the policy of the Ministry of Labor for continuous and stable improvement of safety and health levels in the workplace and its ten main axes are the following:
» Utilization and optimization of the operation of the Institutional Framework that regulates the issues of Safety and Health at Work.
» Existence of an appropriate, adequate and functional Legislative Framework, fully harmonized with the European Acquis.
» & nbsp; Operation of an appropriate and adequate Labor Inspection System for Occupational Safety and Health.
» & nbsp; Improving the operation of the Support Institutions.
» Expanding and improving the Monitoring and Health Promotion System of the employees.
» Promoting prevention and cultivating a safety and health culture
» Integrate Occupational Safety and Health Issues into Other Policy Areas.
» Encourage and capitalize on scientific progress and research.
» < Closer cooperation with the Social Partners and other stakeholders.
» Active participation in the Bodies and activities of the European Union and other European or international Organizations.
The signing of the new strategy last Friday, April 15 is not unrelated to the days that follow, since April 28 has been established by the International Labor Organization as the “World Day for Safety and Health at Work”. In this context, a press conference is organized for a week, while on Saturday 30th of the month CNP ASFALISTIKI, in collaboration with the Department of Labor Inspection and the Cyprus Safety and Health Association, organizes an event entitled Safety and Health at Work, from 10:00 until 12:00 noon, in Eleftherias Square, Nicosia.
