It was like I wanted to say to those around me, 'love me at my worst,'” added the actor
Stratos Tzorgzoglou spoke about the depression he experienced, but also how he managed it together with his wife, Sofia Mariola.
The well-known actor gave an interview to the magazine OK! and explained that the fatigue he had combined with the death of his mother, led him there.
In particular, he stated: “Perhaps her death was the tip of the iceberg and it had started earlier. Because I was working a lot, I probably tired myself more than he could bear. I didn't stop to listen to what my soul wants. Sophia stood by me with love but without knowledge about’ what I was dealing with. In the first few months he was patient, but after a year he started to get annoyed.
He then explained how his depression affected their relationship. “Love passion has ceased to exist. We became two parallel streets in the same house, but never two strangers. Whatever difference I have with Sofia, what prevails is that we respect each other. Our relationship is based on love. These two values bind us and that's how we were able to overcome the problem”, he explained.
As he later said, he continues to see a psychologist to deal with the problem. “I continue to have sessions with a psychologist. We recall various events from the past and they surface. I think it was my fatigue for too many years that I couldn't express my feelings to those around me. I always played the role of the winner and supported others. My life is a constant roller coaster. Since I was a small child, I have been used to difficult situations,” he characteristically said.
Finally, he added: “What I hadn't solved was being able to express that “now I'm tired, I've lost''. I've always been a fighter. I wanted to make my parents and later my son, Alcibiades and Sophia proud. During the depression I felt like I didn't want to do anything. I didn't want to be romantic. I didn't want to be sexy. I gained 12 kilos. As if I wanted to hurt myself and say “love me in my worst form”. It could have been that too”.
