Sudan's military sends negotiators to Saudi Arabia

Sudan's military said it had sent negotiators to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to “discuss the details of the truce that is being renewed”, while the ceasefire, which has been pledged by military and paramilitary forces that have been at war for three weeks, , has not stopped being violated.

Saudis and Americans have been mediating since the start of hostilities on April 15, which have left hundreds of people dead. The UN envoy to Sudan recently said the two warring sides had agreed to hold "technical discussions" for a truce to be observed.

General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo's Rapid Support Force (RSF) has not yet announced its position on these negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

UN: Human Rights Council to hold emergency meeting on the situation in Sudan

The UN Human Rights Council will hold an emergency meeting on May 11 to consider the 'human rights implications'. from the bloody conflicts that have continued in Sudan since mid-April.

This meeting was requested by Norway, Britain, the US and Germany and the proposal is currently supported by 52 countries. The fighting between the army and the paramilitary organization Rapid Support Forces has so far killed around 700 people, according to the non-governmental organization ACLED which records the victims of the armed conflicts.

According to the UN, the injured are more than 5,000, while 115,000 fled to neighboring countries and the internally displaced reach at least 335,000. UNHCR expects 860,000 people to flee Sudan in search of safe haven in neighboring countries.

In this context, Elizabeth Tan, UNHCR director of international protection, called all countries not to issue negative decisions on the asylum requests of Sudanese or stateless persons living in this country.
