The Press Conference for the announcement of the Program “Support to the Shopkeepers of the Larnaca Historical Shopping Center” for 2022 was held on Wednesday, April 27, at the Multipurpose Social Welfare and Employment Center of Larnaca Municipality for 2022. The Conference was organized by the Bank Association of Shopkeepers of Larnaca Historic Shopping Center.
Present at the Press Conference were the Mayor of Larnaca Mr. Andreas Vyras, the Regional Larnaca – Famagusta of the Bank of Cyprus Mr. Michalis Siatanis, the Corporate Responsibility Manager of the Bank of Cyprus Mr. Elli Ioannidou, the Chairman of the Association Mr. Dimitris Dimitriou, Officers of the Municipality of Larnaca and Bank of Cyprus and Members of the Association of Tradesmen.
As is well known, the Historic Shopping Center of Larnaca, over time, is the “historical core” of the commercial life of our city and composes the most basic manifestation of the local economy of a city. It is a place that combines many activities and is offered both for shopping, for the entire shopping public as it gathers countless options, as well as for entertainment with the many and different spaces that enrich it.
At the same time, with the projects that are located around it, such as the Municipal Market that will be completed soon, the Multipurpose Center for Creativity and Culture, which also hosts the Center for Popular Creativity, the Multipurpose Multipurpose Center for Social Welfare and Employment, the Restoration of the complex Zouhouri as well as the renovation of streets and facilities for the disabled, the Center has now acquired even more beauty and picturesqueness that will always keep it alive and active.
Support for Small and Medium Enterprises
In view of the above and the efforts for further impetus of the Center, during the Conference was announced the Program “Support to the Shopkeepers of the Larnaca Historic Shopping Center” 2022 of the Bank of Cyprus from the Larnaca – Famagusta Regional. This Program is part of the Bank's policy to support Small and Medium Enterprises through substantial actions. Mr. Siatanis stated that: “within the framework of this Program, trainers will be trained in various safety issues, such as first aid, fire prevention and treatment in the workplace, etc. by specialized associates and Members of SupportCY.During the conference, the Mayor of Larnaca, after thanking the Bank of Cyprus for this action, mentioned the planning of new projects, part of which concern the Shopping Center such as the renovation of Alki Square and the Acropolis and the paving of Ermou, Zenonos Kitieos streets with all the vertical streets that connect the Shopping Center with the Coastal Front of Finikoudes, stressed that: Ermou and Zenonos Pieridis. The complex of the Larnaca Shopping Center with its infrastructure and shops is a unique point of our city for both locals and foreign visitors.
