At least eight people have been injured in a knife attack in Sweden, with authorities expressing fears of a terrorist attack.
The attack took place on Wednesday night in Vetlanda, Sweden.
According to the first information, at least eight people were injured, while the Swedish police are examining the scenario of a terrorist attack.
According to the Swedish newspaper “Svenska Dagbladet”, the incident was initially investigated by the local police as an assassination attempt, but later sounded the alarm for a terrorist attack.
The suspect in the attack, aged about 20, was allegedly shot by police officers who rushed to the scene and was taken to hospital injured. The severity of his condition, however, has not been clarified, according to “Expressen”.
“There are several injured, but I can not go into more details. “It seems that one or more people were seriously injured and others less,” said Thomas Agnevik, a spokesman for the local law enforcement agency, confirming that the attack was “terrorist”.
