    Ersin Tatar reiterated his unchanged stance on the Cyprus negotiations

    The Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar reiterated his unchanged stance on the Cyprus negotiations, stating that they will not sit at the negotiating table “unless the pseudo-state's equal sovereignty” is recognized.

    < p>In an interview with the Turkish news network NTV, Mr. Tatar referred to statements by the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, regarding the need to recognize the occupied territories, pointing out that they confirm Turkey's official position on the resolution of the Cyprus issue. He underlined that the Turkish side has repeatedly stated that it is impossible to implement a federal solution, and that previous attempts have failed.

    Mr. Tatar also referred to the latest developments in property issue also in the field of tourism in the occupied territories, assigning responsibilitieson the left side. He expressed the belief that the international community must recognize the “principle of sovereign equality” and to stop the “policies of isolation''.

    He said the latest actions by the U.S. side “are a series of attacks that are trying to drive us to defeat at the negotiating table, using any form of oppression. This ‘people’ will not fall victim to this plan,” he said.

    Mr Tatar said that if a process is to be launched, it should be based on trust and the creation of an environment in which both sides they will be able to trust each other. “We have set our conditions, in cooperation with Turkey. Without direct flights, trade and contacts, it is not possible to proceed with tripartite official discussions,” he said.

    Finally, Mr. Tatar pointed out the importance of cooperation with Turkey and strengthening relations with other countries , arguing that the pseudo-state is an “independent state worthy of recognition and respect”.
