The winners of the first award ceremony in 7 categories
In a brilliant ceremony, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, the first TechIsland Awards were presented. The event was a celebration of the technology sector with select guests including representatives of Government, State and technology sector leaders.
The award winners in the 7 categories of the TechIsland Awards were:
Impact Driver the non-profit organization City Friends Club. The award was presented by the president of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, the General Manager of TechIsland Marios Giorgoudis and the Head of Operations of TechIsland Tanya Romanyukha.
Game Changer the Department of Population and Immigration Records of the Home Office. The award was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Kombos, and the co-founder and CEO of GDEV, and member of the Board of Directors of TechIsland, Andrey Fadeev.
IT Ambassadorthe Reflect Festival. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Philippos Chatzizacharias and the CEO of ASBIS and member of the Board of TechIsland, Siarhei Kostevitch.
Rising Star RSL Revolutionary Labs Ltd. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister for the President, Irini Piki and Angelos Grigoriadis Chair of Executive Committee of TechIsland.
Future ShapersThe Island School of Limassol. The award was presented by the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Konstantinos Herodotou and Antonis Polemitis, CEO of the University of Nicosia and member of the Board of Directors of TechIsland.
Role Model TheSoul Publishing. The award was presented by the president of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Christodoulos Agastiniotis and Kodros Pilakoutas, Head of Business Operations of the Char Group. Pilakoutas.

The first TechIsland Awards are a milestone for Cyprus. The rapid development of the technology sector in recent years proves its dynamism as well as the horizontal contribution it has in general to various pillars of the local economy. For this purpose, the awards aim to highlight the people, companies and projects that contribute significantly to the further development of the sector and the promotion of Cyprus as a technological hub.
During his speech, Mr. Valentinos Polykarpou, chairman of the Board of Directors of TechIsland, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and private sector, thanking the government and state for the support to the development of the technology sector. ''Tonight,'' he said, ''is not just about the technology sector and its achievements. This is a recognition of a collective effort based on a common ambition for our island.''
Mr. Polykarpou also thanked the pioneers who came to Cyprus 15-20 years ago having seen the perspective of Cyprus. ''You came as entrepreneurs, investors, specialized IT professionals and started the sector from scratch. Your hard work and dedication have built the foundations on which we all stand here today.''
Mr Polykarpou stated that by 2022, the ICT sector had a 13% contribution to Cyprus's GDP. , which translates into 3 billion euros in the country's economy. ''But these are not just numbers,'' he continued.
During his greeting, the President of the Republic said “Techisland plays a key role in the development of the technology ecosystem, promoting reforms, attracting talent and placing Cyprus on the map as a technology and innovation hub. So allow me to express our government's appreciation to all of you, for the trust you constantly show us, and your important contribution to the development and progress of the economy of Cyprus.''
