With 3 big Gold, 47 gold, and 6 silver medals, as well as 8 special distinctions, the 13th Cyprus Wine Competition was completed, which took place under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and the International Vine Organization and Wine.
According to an announcement by the Ministry, & nbsp; 33 wineries competed with a total of 178 wines, a number which shows the high interest shown by the wine producers.
The & nbsp; award-winning & nbsp; wines & nbsp; come from indigenous varieties of Cyprus, the Ministry notes, clarifying that the vast majority of the wines that participated in the Competition have received a high score, which would justify their award with a medal, if there is no medal from the OIV protocol.
The Award Ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture Costas Kadis, as well as other personalities and was a great success. Organized ensembles from the wine sector, winemakers and others involved in the industry were present.
The competing wines were evaluated by a distinguished seven-member Jury under the coordination of Professor Dr. Valeriou V. Cotea, Secretary of Science and OIV Wine Technical Committee and Supervisor of the Competition to ensure the Rules of the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
“The 13th Cyprus Wine Competition sends the message that the only winner is the Cyprus Wine, development, the upward trend of its quality and the fact that it competes with worthy wines with internationally recognized value “, the Ministry notes.
The awarded wines are presented on the & nbsp; website & nbsp; of the Department of Agriculture.
