The 2nd online event of the SUPMed project was implemented by PASYXE

The Pancyprian Hoteliers Association (PASYXE) organized yesterday the 2nd online event of the project entitled “Reduction of consumption and disposal of disposable plastics in the tourism industry in Cyprus, Greece and Malta”, also known as “SUPMed” in Cyprus.

According to today's announcement, various people directly involved and interested in the project were invited to this event, such as representatives of hotels and tourist accommodation, suppliers and small and medium enterprises and representatives of local and public authorities.

During the 2nd event of the project in Cyprus, the participants had the opportunity to be informed about the progress of the project, the final pilot sample consisting of tourist accommodation in Cyprus, Greece and Malta, and to get a first taste of the special free developed Decision-support tool (DST).

At the same time, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the pilot sample of hotels in Cyprus and to hear their experiences so far from their participation in the project. The tourist accommodations participating in the project in Cyprus are GrandResort, Atlantica Mare Village Ayia Napa, Radisson Blue Hotel and The Royal Apollonia.

As mentioned in the announcement of PASYXE, the project will last until June 2023 with a total budget of 1,279,405.00 euros. The six partners involved in the implementation of the project are Aspon Consulting Ltd as lead partner (CY), the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GR), Anelixis Development Consultants SSA (GR), Cellock Ltd (CY), AIS Environment (MT) and the Pancyprian Hoteliers Association (CY).

“By completing the project, the partners aim to reduce the consumption, disposal and impact of disposable plastics in the tourism sector in three Mediterranean regions (Cyprus, Greece, Malta) in accordance with EU Directive 2019/904 on reducing the impact of plastic products “, it is noted.
