The 45-year-old man denies involvement in the murder of Polykarpos-Positive in a drug test

The Paphos District Court issued an eight-day detention order against the 45-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday as a suspect in the premeditated murder of a 58-year-old victim. in the Court the examiner of the case remains investigative work, such as taking another 50 depositions for the case, while there will also be  identification lineups in which the suspect's vehicle will also be seized.

There will also be tests in the area to evaluate closed circuits and a large amount of evidence will be sent for scientific tests to the Police Headquarters. Furthermore, the 45-year-old suspect's car and the victim's motorcycle will be examined scientifically at the Criminal Investigation Service of the Police Headquarters this Sunday.

As mentioned in the Court, the suspect denies any involvement in the case. Besides, the autopsy on the body of the 58-year-old will take place tomorrow, Monday.

According to the events heard in the Court, around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, a fatal road collision took place on Tafon to Vasileo Avenue, in Paphos.

Specifically, a motorcycle driven by Ioannis Polykarpou, a 58-year-old resident Pafos, under circumstances that are being investigated by the Police, was hit by a car, the driver of which left the scene. As a result of the collision, the 58-year-old was injured and taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During the investigation of the road collision, testimony emerged against a 45-year-old resident of Pafos, who claims that he was the driver of the vehicle involved.

From further examinations, it appeared that a short time before, the victim and the arrestee allegedly had an argument between them in a building in Paphos, which ended with the intervention of patrons.

Around 7.35 on Saturday morning, the 45-year-old was spotted by members of the Paphos Police Department driving his car and was stopped. During the search that followed, burglary tools were found on him and he was arrested for the crime itself. The car in question was also found to have dents on the front end and was freshly spray painted. The 45-year-old also tested positive for a drug test.

The 45-year-old was taken to the offices of the Paphos Police Department where he was re-arrested based on a court warrant, while the Paphos Traffic Police in collaboration with the Paphos Police Department are continuing the tests. According to the Police, the arrested person and the victim had argued in the past.
